This book delves into the aesthetics of Dalit theatre, a chiefly underrepresented area of Indian Dalit Literature. It illuminates the aesthetics of Dalit identity and sheds light on caste-class, and caste-gender interfaces. In order to show the subtleties of caste, class and gender, the book includes textual interpretations of specific Dalit plays, available in English translation, originally written in Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali covering various parts of India. Another significant facet of this study is the inclusion of full-length interviews, conducted by the author, of all the living playwrights whose texts have been included for textual analysis.
