Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984

The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) and its Codes of Practice are a vital part of the legislative framework that lays out police powers for combating crime. PACE Code C sets out the requirements for the detention, treatment and questioning of suspects not related to terrorism in police custody by police officers. This Code applies to people in police detention after 00:00 on 31 July 2018, notwithstanding that their period of detention may have commenced be fore that time.
