Turkish translations helped the elites in early modern Anatolia to appropriate Islamic traditions that had been recorded in Arabic and Persian. By considering manuscripts of selected historical works and advice literature, Philip Bockholt analyzes this inner-Islamic knowledge transfer, taking into account the actors (translators, clients, and readers) as well as substantive adaption and reception.
