This book presents work on the functioning of metaphor in public discourse and related discourse areas, challenging the 'classic' Conceptual Metaphor Theory approach. It proposes innovative approaches in Cognitive Linguistics and beyond to solving tensions between conceptualist idealizations and empirically observable variation.
