Pragmatic Electrical Engineering: Systems and Instruments is about some of the non-energy parts of electrical systems, the parts that control things and measure physical parameters. The primary topics are control systems and their characterization, instrumentation, signals, and electromagnetic compatibility. This text features a large number of completely worked examples to aid the reader in understanding how the various principles fit together. While electric engineers may find this material useful as a review, engineers in other fields can use this short lecture text as a modest introduction to these non-energy parts of electrical systems. Some knowledge of basic d-c circuits and of phasors in the sinusoidal steady state is presumed.
