European demographers have written about their countries' populations from the beginning of demographic transition in the XVIIIth-XIXth century to the present day. An history of the population of 25 European countries is presented. In addition to the transition from an ancient to a modern demographic system, this book deals with emigration during the XIXth and the beginning of the XXth century with the impact of wars, the depression during the 1930s, baby boom and marriage recent birth rate decrease in Western Europe. The development of Europe as the immigration paradise is widely treated including the most recent trends in this field.
